This is the first website I created for a small business client. The author, Alan Messing, had self-published his book, A Rose Blooms in the Desert, and wanted a place where he could promote the book and update his fans about speaking engagements and other upcoming events.

In this case, I helped Alan buy his hosting package and domain name, chose a free WordPress theme, designed him a logo and made some coordinating design decisions for the color scheme and imagery on his site. I also advised him on what type of content would be most appealing to site visitors, such as offering the first chapter for free.

The centerpiece of his website is really the plugin that allows a reader to buy his book from multiple sources in as few clicks as possible:

Site visitors can also learn more about the real people who inspired his fictional novel and about the setting, a more interactive experience then an Amazon listing can provide.
